| Sean Casey Sean Casey Bio
Sean Casey began his broadcasting career at the age of six, when his parents discovered him in front of the Curtis-Mathis stereo playing and announcing records while talking into a Lincoln Log or was that a Tinker Toy? Rumor has it, that as a young lad, he heard a disc jockey named Frank Luber on WCAO. His first radio gig was at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff on the campus carrier current radio station, KNAU. The first commercial station to employ Casey was KEOS/Flagstaff, Az. Where he did a combo music/talk show in the mid-70’s. From there, he signed on 100-KHI in Ocean City, Md.In 1979, he went to work at the Voice of America as a news anchor in the World Wide English Division. At VOA, he broadcast news and interviews with President Reagan and foreign leaders around the world.
Returning to commercial broadcasting in 1981, Sean accepted an offer to do the morning show at WNAV in Annapolis. A year later it was off to Baltimore to start a new satellite delivered format, “Super Radio” at WQSR-FM. Sean moved cross-town to 92 Star (WYST-FM) where he first did the afternoon drive and then morning drive show as well as programming the weekend specials. After the death of pop singer Karen Carpenter, Sean interviewed her brother Richard and then wrote, voiced and produced a tribute to the pop music duo.
Longing for a return to personality radio, Sean returned to his sports and talk roots in 1987 when he signed a deal with WCBM to host a morning drive show featuring the news and current events of the day. “AM Edition” with Sean Casey featured Baltimore newsmakers and personalities. Orioles Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson and Bullets great Wes Unseld were part of the show as well. Unfortunately, WCBM went dark in the summer of 1988, so Sean turned his talents to voice-overs where he built up an impressive client list of political and commercial voice-overs.
In 1988, WCBM, under new management, contacted Sean to return as Production Director and fill-in Talk Show Host. Sean was named Operations Director in 1990. He also hosted a national morning show for the American Radio Network, which was heard from Washington, D.C. to Hawaii. In 1991, Sean was promoted to Director of Programming and Operations and held down the afternoon drive time slot. Sean teamed with Frank Luber in November 1992 and the Morning Show with Sean and Frank was born.
